Buttonbush

Cephalanthus occidentalis, or buttonbush, is a species of flowering plant native to eastern and southern North America. It averages 3-9 ft. in height, but can reach 20 ft. It is a common shrub in many wetland habitats. Flowering is poor when in the shade or in dry soils. It blooms from June to September with small, white flowers. The fruits persist into winter and attract wildlife but is moderately deer resistant.
