Cornus stolonifera ‘Farrow,’ generally known as arctic fire or red twig dogwood, is a deciduous shrub. This species is native to much of North America and found in wet, swampy areas. It can grow up to 3-4 ft. tall and wide. It produces beautiful white blooms, from late spring to early summer, that will turn into clusters of drupes. The fruit is quite attractive to birds and makes it more ornamental. This deer resistant plant does best in full sun to part shade with moist, rich soil.

The stems of this plant alter shades of color and become the most vibrant red in the winter. Root suckers should be removed if colonial spread is not desired. Pruning is not required but should occur in early spring to stimulate new colorful growth.
