Why have a school garden? School gardens engage students with hands-on learning of the importance of where your food comes from, how to grow it, and how to prepare it for cooking. Most Bartow County Schools and some City of Cartersville schools have an area to grow plants, whether it’s outside raised beds, a greenhouse, grow bags, or a hydroponic grow tower. We are here to help with any school garden needs and questions that you might have. Keep it growing!
One of the most recent studies of the impact of school gardens on academic performance found that research conducted between 1990 and 2010 has shown “overwhelmingly that garden-based learning had a positive impact on students’ grades, knowledge, attitudes, and behavior” (1).
