Tagetes, or marigold, vary in size from .1-2.2 m tall. Blooms are often golden, orange, yellow, or white colors. They tend to be planted as annuals, although perennial varieties are available. Depending on the species, most will grow in almost any sort of soil. Since this plant has a musky, pungent scent it works well as an insect deterrent.
