Swamp Hibiscus

Hibiscus moscheutos, commonly swamp hibiscus or rose mallow, can grow 3-8 ft. tall and 2-5 ft. wide. This cold-hardy perennial is mainly found in swampy areas or growing along creek banks. Blooming in midsummer, it is fast-growing and thrives best in full sun. Use this plant in the lowest area of the garden, along streams or ponds. It can be planted in a container and is a perfect bloom for pollinators and hummingbirds. It does have problems with Japanese beetles and sawflies, if foliage is left unchecked.
