Muhlenbergia capillaris, or mulhy grass, is a perennial sedge-like plant that grows 1-3 ft. tall and 2-3 ft. wide. This is a warm-season grass meaning that leaves begin growth in the summer. During the fall, the leaves turn to a more copper color. The purple-pink flowers are very feathery in appearance and stay in bloom till the end of autumn. It prefers a mildly acidic organic soil. It has many advantages including disease resistant, shade tolerant, and attracts beneficial insects like ladybugs.
