  • Its been a little stormy this week which has slowed us down some but it didn’t stop us. Cotton: Most people I’ve have talked with are still waiting a few days before they get started planting. Few have already started to plant and early stands are coming up nicely. Peanuts: I’ve been looking at some…

  • Its that time again. We’re still not at the office but we have been out and about. The storm got a little rough Monday morning. The tornado in Brookfield was about 1/2 mile north of my parent’s house. We are still on teleworking, meaning that the office is still closed to the public. If you…

If you weren’t at the barn then you missed a wild and fun hog sale Tuesday night. We had several hogs sell for $10-$11 a pound. I know the kids were overly excited. Thanks to all of you who did come and support the kids, they have really worked hard all year on those hogs.…

  • My livestock judging team placed 2nd at the Peach State Contest, it rained this week and Sara cooked jambalaya for supper the other night. It’s been a busy week. Peanuts are in full swing. Cotton is cranking up. Livestock show season is here. 4-H judging teams are starting practice for the fall and winter run. It was actually cool when I walked out of the house this morning and I don’t think I started to sweat until lunch. I…

  • Weekly County Update 9/13/2019

Peanuts: Peanuts have been moving a little closer to the 140-day range. Several are getting dug around the county now. I have only heard of a few grades but they were pretty good, the lower to middle 70s. Be sure to check dry corners of irrigated fields for signs of lesser cornstalk borers and spider mites.…

  • Well, we missed the destruction of Hurricane Dorian and the Bulldawgs won so it was a pretty decent week. While I enjoy the holiday (Labor Day) it really does seem to mess the week up. Peanuts: Maturity check still going on. Mondays at Tift Peanut Plant 2, Wednesdays at Omega Farm Supply, and Fridays at…
