Its been a little stormy this week which has slowed us down some but it didn’t stop us.

Cotton: Most people I’ve have talked with are still waiting a few days before they get started planting. Few have already started to plant and early stands are coming up nicely.

Peanuts: I’ve been looking at some peanuts that have cracked. They are looking good. I have found a little crown rot so we’ll be monitoring that but the stands looked good.

Vegetables: The winds from the storms have been taking a toll. Melons and squash have been getting whipped and sandblasted. So far I haven’t seen any fusarium in watermelons but I am scheduled to look at a field tomorrow that it may possibly have some. Downy Mildew has been found in Echols, so we need to diligent in prevention and scouting for that.

HERD Sale: We carried on with the HERD sale this week. For the first time, we used a virtual sale format that had some challenges but turned out to be effective. Heifers averaged $1725.
