2026 Day Camps & Practice Schedule
Tuesday June 30 @ 9am – 3pm (This class is REQUIRED for new participants only)
- Introduction to Forestry Field Day Contest and Rules (0.5 hour)
- Leaf shape and leaf arrangement basics; Leaf rubbing (1 hour)
- Tree Identification (44 Jr. species + 26 Sr. species)
- Lunch 11:00 – 11:30 (bring your own lunch)
- Field Trip to Coopers Furnace Nature Trail (2 mile trail)
Thursday July 2 @ 9am – 3pm (New and Experienced Team Members)
- Review previous week’s trees (create flash cards 1.5 hours)
- Tree Insect Identification (17 Jr. species + 13 Sr. species)
- Tree Disease Identification (14 Jr. species + 9 Sr. species)
- Lunch 11:30 – 12:00 (bring your own lunch)
- Field Trip to Pettit Environmental Preserve (1.5 mile trail) – confirmed
Tuesday July 14 @ 9am – 3pm (New and Experienced Team Members)
- Review previous week’s trees/insect/diseases (create flash cards 1.5 hours)
- Pacing Exercise: (1.5 hour) & compass (seniors only)
- Lunch 11:30 – 12:00 (bring your own lunch)
- Field Trip to Pine Log Creek Trail (2 mile trail)
Thursday July 16 @ 9am – 3pm (New and Experienced Team Members)
- Review last weeks’ trees/insects/diseases (finish flash cards – 1 hour)
- Tree Volume Estimation (using tree scale stick – 1.5 hours)
- Lunch at Hamilton Crossing 11:30 – 12:00 (bring your own lunch)
- Field Trip to Spring Bank in Kingston (1 mile trail)
Thursday After School Practices (Review):
- August 20 @ 4:30 – 6:30pm (High Schoolers stay until 7:00pm)
- August 27 @ 4:30 – 6:30pm (High Schoolers stay until 7:00pm)
- September 3 @ 4:30 – 6:30pm (High Schoolers stay until 7:00pm)
District Forestry Contest (Early Dismissal from School):
- September 9 – District 4-H Forestry Field Day Contest for Jr. & Sr. teams
After School Practices (High Schoolers only):
- September 17 @ 4:30 – 6:30pm
- September 22 @ 4:30 – 6:30pm
State Forestry Contest (High Schoolers only):
- September 24 – State 4-H Forestry Contest for High School Team Only
