National Farmers Day and Georgia Peanut Festival

Peanuts are a big part of Worth County’s agriculture and an important commodity in our state. Worth County is known for its peanut production and impact on the economy, but we would not have this recognition if it weren’t for our farmers. This week, National Farmers Day was celebrated on October 12th. Thank you to all farmers and farm families! Now is the time of year that harvest is coming in. We wish you a safe and plentiful harvest.

The 57th Annual 2021 Georgia Peanut Festival in Sylvester is starting this evening, October 15th, with Farm Family Night from 7-10:00 p.m. at Jeffords Park. On Saturday, the Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by festivities in the park. There will be games and activities, fun for all; also many craft and food vendors will be set up for visitors.

If we can be of assistance to you at Worth County Extension, please let us know.
