Worth County Extension hosted one of the Using Pesticides Wisely (UPW) trainings in Sylvester today. Growers and applicators attended the training, which began at 9:00 a.m. This is a mandatory training for growers and applicators that plan to use the in-crop dicamba products that are labeled on approved crops. Speakers on the program were: Dr. Taylor Singleton, UGA Extension Sustainability Specialist; Dr. Stanley Culpepper, UGA Extension Weed Scientist; and Mr. Nick Sumner, GA Department of Agriculture Pesticide Program Manager. County Agent, Scott Carlson, introduced the program. We were grateful to have Worth County as one of the locations chosen for the training. If a grower was not able to attend today’s training, there are other dates, times, and locations listed in the following information below.

- As mandated by federal labels, all applicators must hold a private or commercial pesticide applicator license to purchase and apply the restricted-use herbicides Engenia, Stryax, and Tavium.
- Prior to applying these products in Georgia during 2026, applicators must complete the state-specific 2026 UPW classroom training with locations provided below. Online training WILL NOT be available.
- Those needing pesticide credits but not applying Engenia, Stryax, or Tavium are welcome to attend.
- Bring your pesticide license; 2 hours of pesticide credits for private or commercial will be provided.
- The meeting will last about 1.5 hours; NO beverages or meals will be provided.
- Attendees’ names will be placed on a list posted to the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s auxin website at: https://agr.georgia.gov/dicamba.
