The Editor’s Blog from the Stormwater Magazine today discusses the freshwater in the Great Lakes and some facts about the lakes.  In the post, Janice discusses the presence of algae blooms, carp and wetlands.  I know there has been some discussion with UGA Extension Agents on algae blooms and harmful blooms.  There is an effort here at UGA to investigate some of the causes of the blooms and potentially try to develop an early warming system as to the potential of developing harmful blooms.

If you have a pond and would be interested in being involved in such a discussion on developing an early warning system, please let your local Extension Agent know or contact me at 706-310-3526 or ghawkins@uga.edu.
