After today’s front passes through the Southeast, only light rain is expected for most of the region over the next week. The heaviest rain amounts are expected mid- to late week in the Mississippi Valley area and stretching east into Alabama. Even those will only be about an inch, though.

This week’s Drought Monitor shows continuing erosion of drought conditions across the Southeast. No big changes but reductions in areal coverage for all categories of drought. Rain today and this weekend should help keep this trend going over the next week.
