AgWeb reported this week that losses to Louisiana agriculture from the recent floods will be at least $110 million. Damage to soybeans was estimated at $46 million, $44 million for rice and $3 million for sugarcane. You can read more about it and watch the AgDay video report here.
Modern Farmer also ran a story today about the impact of the floods on some smaller farmers in the flooded area. Some of them are replanting for the third or fourth time in the last couple of years due to heavy rains. Ironically, some of them have had to go on food stamps because their own crops were wiped out and getting loans and new crops into the ground takes time. You can read it here.
