Great post from Nick McGhee Terrell County Agent. The University of Georgia publishes yield data and disease ratings every year from their variety trials. One of the commodity groups that our researchers look at is the small grain crops including wheat, oats, rye, barley, and triticale. Even though most growers are in the middle of harvest season now, many are considering their winter small grain options as well.
I encourage growers to take a look at the UGA Statewide Variety Trial data and use it as they make their plans. The 2014 Small Grain data can be found at the following website:

The UGA Statewide Variety Trial Program also studies many other crops as well including Corn, Cotton, Soybean, Peanut, and several others. The data for the 2014 Summer crops is being gathered now and will be available shortly. Growers can access all of this information through the Statewide variety trial website at https://www.swvt.uga.edu/index.html.
