Many people (but not all) that have a septic system also has a well to provide the house or business with water. With the idea of Keep it Clean! you need to think about your well (if you have one) and how to protect it from contamination. This can be to ensure it is not downhill from your septic system, make sure it is capped or sealed, is protected around it through many different ways. One way to also ensure the water you are using is clean is to have it tested annually. UGA has a lab and you can get recommendations and bottles for your County Extension Office in your county. Today our little detective is turning the idea of well safety to someone from EPA with this tip for Keeping it Clean!

For those with a well, protecting and keeping it clean is the responsibility of the well owner and it is recommended you test the water annually. If you have more questions please contact your local UGA Extension Office.
