On June 12, 2026, Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful (Hannah Bagley), Citizens of GA Power- Plant Bowen (Tari Whiteman), & KBB Staff (Katie Martin & Gracie Jordan) conducted a river cleanup and land cleanup at Neels Landing. There were a total of 50 volunteers who worked for a total of 200 hours.

The “water team” began at the Hardin Bridge boat launch and ended at Neels Landing boat launch. The “water team” consisted of 43 volunteers, KBB staff (Gracie Jordan), & KRFB staff (Hannah Bagley). The kayaks were rented from Euharlee Creek Outfitters. Zach Tyree (Owner, Euharlee Creek Outfitters) gave safety briefing before entering the Etowah River. The volunteers paddled in kayaks and retrieved trash from the sides of the river banks.

The “land crew” stayed at Neels Landing. The “land team” consisted of 4 volunteers & KBB staff (Katie Martin). At Neels Landing, volunteers cleaned up around the boat launch. It was too hot and late in the planting season to add any additional plants. After the cleanup, everyone was served Firehouse Subs ordered by Georgia Power.

In total, 635 pounds was removed from Etowah River and Neels Landing, along with a 4 tires, multiple pieces of wood, tin, concrete pot, fishing pole, and 2 chairs.
