Citizens of GA Power helped remove 26 bags (520 lbs.) of trash from Covered Bridge Rd. on March 6, 2026. They mainly focused on the entrance area of Plant Bowen (down to the training building and railroad tracks). They met at the Bowen training building at 8:30 am for sign-in and concluded at 10:30 pm. KBB staff assisted with the cleanup and provided supplies along with KBB Great American Cleanup shirts. The 5 volunteers contributed 2 hours of physical labor each to help remove litter (10 hours total).

Georgia Power owns approximately 90,000 acres of land reserved for future utility uses and power generation plant sites. They manage the land for watershed protection, wildlife habitat, & sustainable forests. These resources fall under the GA Power 3 basic principles:

  • Protection of assets and the environment
  • Promotion of lands and lakes for the public good
  • Wise use of renewable natural resources to generate revenue and opportunities for outdoor recreation

Their mission is to preserve the scenic, environmental, cultural, & recreational value of our lands and lakes. One way this is done, is by them participating yearly in the Great American Cleanup.
