About our program
Extension R.E.A.D.S (Reaching and Empowering All Developing Scholars) is a collaboration between UGA Extension and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia with the goal of promoting youth literacy throughout the state by extending the reach of the Read Across America initiative.
We translate science of everyday living for farmers, families and communities to foster a healthy and prosperous Georgia. We are a collaborative between Georgia county governments, the USDA, and the University of Georgia‘s colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Family & Consumer Sciences.
State Botanical Garden of Georgia
As a unit of Public Service and Outreach at the University of Georgia, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia creates and nurtures an environment for learning, inspiration and engagement through horticulture, conservation, science based programs and lasting partnerships.
Read Across America
Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. This year-round program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.
