    According to the latest Southeast Regional Climate Hub (SERCH) newsletter, the Fire Weather Intelligence Portal has been expanded from North Carolina to cover the entire Southeast.   • Rain returns to northern parts of the Southeast

    While dry conditions have allowed drought to expand in the Southeast, parts of the region should see quite a bit of rain this week. The Florida peninsula will remain dry, but north of that, as much as seven inches could be measured in a few places. Rain should be distributed over the week.

  • Only slight changes to Drought Monitor this week

    The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows very slight decreases in drought this week, with most places receiving welcome rain (or snow).  We don’t expect a lot of big changes in the next week, either.

  • NWS: New ENSO advisory shows we are in La Niña

    The latest advisory for ENSO came out today and shows that we are firmly in a La Niña now and are expected to stay so for at least the next few months before returning to neutral conditions.
