The latest Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows small overall changes in drought across the region. There were generally some slight improvements in the southern half of the region due to recent rain and slight degradations in the northern half due to the lack of rain. We may see the opposite effect this coming week since most of the rain has been in the northern half of the Southeast along with severe weather. Very warm weather to the south of the stationary front will enhance evaporation from soil, leading to more dryness.
