As we go into the hottest part of the year, it is important to monitor conditions to make sure you are protecting yourself, your family, and your workers against heat illnesses. The North Carolina State Climate Office has produced a new map tool that shows how the wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) is distributed across the Southeast for the next three days. WBGT is commonly used by high school athletic associations, the military, and other groups that need to monitor people exerting themselves in dangerously hot and humid conditions. You can read more about the new tool at https://products.climate.ncsu.edu/heat-monitor/about/ or go right to the tool at https://products.climate.ncsu.edu/heat-monitor/.
