Disease Updates from Dr. Kemerait

The news this morning from my wheelhouse is the same- temp outside 77F at 4:15 AM. Likely 100% humidity. Temperature later today, temperatures in the low-to-mid 90s. Slight chance of rain. Perfect conditions for white mold, for peanut leaf spot, for areolate mildew.

if confirmed areolate mildew and more than 4 weeks to anticipated application of a defoliant, please at least consider use of a fungicide to protect yield. 2) azoxystrobin (Abound, Quadris, A-Frame, etc) has been “fair-to-good” for control of areolate mildew in the past. 3) where areolate mildew is a threat, azoxy products are not recommended but Miravis TOP product (not Miravis, they are different) and Priaxor are recommended. Should the grower focus on Miravis? Big NO. Should the grower focus on Azoxystrobin ? Even BIGGER NO.  Should the grower focus on MIRAVIS TOP or Priaxor? Yes. BIG YES.
