A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

Certified applicators must successfully complete an EPA-approved training program before mixing, loading, and/or applying paraquat, as required by the EPA’s Paraquat Dichloride Human Health Mitigation Decision. The training provides important information about paraquat’s toxicity, new label requirements and restrictions, and the consequences of misuse. Training is required every 3 years.

If an applicator needs the paraquat training, then there are several webinar and in-person opportunities soon at no charge.

Dr. Bart Clewis, Syngenta’s Senior Stewardship Manager, will be presenting 6 free webinars over the next 3 weeks. The dates and times of these webinars are listed below.

The online registration form for the 6 webinars is located at:

https://syngenta.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Ncy6oG2-S5GQYYveH2Cwsg#/registration

There are two attendance options:

  • Individuals can register for one or more of the zoom sessions (but only required to attend one). Only one registrant per webinar login will receive credit.
  • If there are numerous applicators that would like a group meeting, then the group meetings will be led by the county agent. The agents will validate the attendance by completing the attendance roster.

There is a simple 10 question quiz following the training.

  • Individuals watching on their own will do the on-line quiz.
  • Groups watching together will go through question and review with Dr. Clewis following the training, and the county agent will submit.

Participants that complete the training will receive 1 hour of pesticide recertification credit for private and commercial applicators.

Worth County Extension will be hosting group viewings of the webinar at the Sumner Room at Margaret Jones Public Library on the following dates:

** March 13, 2024, 2:00-3:30 PM

** March 14, 2024, 2:00-3:30 PM

** March 20, 2024, 2:00-3:30 PM
