As some of you know, 4-H is now back in Long County! We are very excited for this new year and hope to have many new faces as well as previously experienced students. This year’s enrollment is being done online through Georgia 4-H Enrollment V2. To enroll, go to our Long County web page through the UGA Extension website. It will be the first item listed on the 4-H Youth Development tab on the left side of your screen. The link for the enrollment form can also be found on our Facebook page (Long County 4-H) as well as in our bio on our Instagram (long4h). Another option is to stop by our Extension Office and fill out an enrollment card. We are located at 81 W. Academy Street behind the Mary Ann Odum Gov. Annex building.
If you are interested in being an adult volunteer, please feel free to contact the Long County Extension Office and we can talk through the process.
So you may be wondering..what is 4-H and what do the students do?
4-H began over 100 years ago, and has since grown into the largest youth development program in the nation. 4-H prepares young people to be leaders in their community through hands-on experiences alongside their peers and caring adults. Backed by UGA Extension, Georgia 4-H delivers research-based programming around positive youth development. In Georgia, 4-H can be found in all 159 counties!
Club meetings through in and after school programming, camps/workshops, quiz bowls, livestock showing, judging teams, project achievement, and more are all things your 4-H’er would have the opportunity to do! For more information about these events, you can visit the Georgia 4-H website for a whole run down.
If you are new, considering joining or have any other questions about enrollment or 4-H in general, please contact the Long County Extension Office at 912-545-9549. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. So what are waiting for? Enroll today to be become part of the largest youth organization in the nation!
