Monitor weather alerts

Secure items outside. We are expected to have severe wind conditions. Please tie down, bring in, or otherwise secure anything outside that could be picked up.

Prepare an emergency kit with all of the necessities for a minimum of 3 days.

Don’t forget your pet! Make sure that you include them in your emergency packing. Reserve enough of their food for 3 days, water for them, and any medications that they may need to take. If you need to evacuate, check with the shelters before you leave if it is ok for you to bring pets along.

In the event of an evacuation, you may be unable to fill up at a gas station for miles outside of city limits. Plan ahead and make sure that you have a full tank of gas. If you plan to stay home and the power goes out, you will want to have batteries ready for all devices you commonly use. Check your generator before the storm arrives to make any adjustments that may be needed.

Plan your evacuation route. Hotels may fill up quickly, so have a back-up plant. Contact friends/family further inland that you may be able to stay with. Monitor for shelter options that pop up.
