The 2020 National 4-H STEM Challenge (formerly National Youth Science Day) will be celebrated in October. The 2020 Challenge, Mars Base Camp, is designed for youth ages 8-14 and develops STEM skills such as mechanical engineering, physics, computer science, and agriculture.
NEW this year! National 4-H Council is offering two ways to purchase the STEM Challenge materials:
- A family kit, for up to 4 youth for $15.95
- An educator kit, for up to 12 youth for $23.95
Thanks to Toyota’s sponsorship, you can use the code THANKTOYOTA at checkout and receive $5 off. This is a limited-time offer, so order quickly. Kits can be purchased from Shop 4-H now and will be shipped this week!
You can also download the youth guide, facilitator guide, and social media graphics from the Kit & Marketing Resources webpage.
There are many upcoming virtual professional development opportunities to learn about the 2020 NYSD challenge. Offered by National 4-H Council and Virginia 4-H, the following webinars are scheduled:
- STEM Challenge Overview for Educators + Kit Unboxing: August 11 at 1:00pm ET
- Creating and Adapting Programming for Virtual and Hybrid Delivery: September 10 at 1:00pm ET
More information about each of these webinars (including registration) can be found using the links above.
While this activity has traditionally been hosted on the Wednesday of National 4-H Week, National 4-H Council is shifting away from a specific day to host the activities … so please choose the best way to celebrate for you!
