  • New report on impacts of drought on forests, rangelands

    The US Department of Agriculture has just released a new report on the impacts of drought on forests and rangelands.   It includes descriptions of the types of drought, impacts on water supplies and vegetation, and includes information on how to deal with the impacts effectively.  You can find it at https://www.fs.fed.us/sites/default/files/DROUGHT_book-web-1-11-16.pdf.

  • East Coast blizzard affected mushroom growers in Pennsylvania

    The Packer had a story last week on the impacts of the East Coast snowstorm on mushroom growers in Pennsylvania.  The heavy snow collapsed roofs of growing facilities, closed roads to trucks and prevented workers from getting to the farms.  This is likely to result in a temporary shortage of fresh mushrooms in the East.…

    From the National Weather Service: This week, February 1st through 5th, is Severe Weather Preparedness Week for Georgia.
