The latest Drought Monitor, released on Thursday, show that an area of severe drought has been added to southeastern Georgia in response to very warm temperatures and lack of rainfall. Moderate drought was introduced to the South Carolina coast as well. Drought was removed from northeastern Alabama and northwestern Georgia due to copious rain there.

After a week of significant rain, dry conditions in the Southeast have been significantly reduced, now covering just over half the region. Severe (D2) drought has been eliminated from the area. The latest issue of the Drought Monitor, released this morning, shows that dry conditions decreased slightly across the region in the past week, and areas of drought were shrunk or removed in many states.
