The latest Drought Monitor, released today, shows that there were new additions of extreme (D3) drought in Alabama and Georgia this week in addition to what was already present in the Florida Panhandle. The only place where drought improved was in western Alabama. With the rain that will be moving through the region in the next few days, we can expect that the drought will not get worse and could improve in next week’s map. There were no changes in Puerto Rico this week, just a few lingering areas of abnormally dry conditions.
