The latest 7-day rainfall forecast shows that most of the region will receive scattered showers and thunderstorms for the first few days of the week with dry conditions returning late in the week. Alabama is expected to be dry all week, while areas in the Southern Appalachians and in Florida are most likely to see showers develop. Fortunately, Hurricane Lee, which is out in the Atlantic, is predicted to track to the north where it will likely bring a lot of rain to New England but will leave most of us dry. Week 2 looks like it will be cooler and drier across most of the region before we return to warmer conditions late in the month. The tropics look fairly quiet for the next week or two, but we are still in the peak season so more storms are likely before the end of fall.
