NOAA released their final outlook for February 2023 this week. It shows that for most of the Southeast they expect warmer and wetter conditions than usual to continue through February. The exception is along the coasts and in the Florida peninsula, where drier than normal conditions are likely to continue. I checked the long range forecast to see what the likelihood of freezing conditions is and saw a couple of minor outbreaks, but those are mainly limited to northern AL and GA and points north, although at least one map showed a potential for frost into SW Georgia around the middle of February. Keep in mind that last year some areas had frost as late as April, and while I don’t expect that this year, we still have plenty of chances for cold weather even if the overall climate is warmer than normal.
