The Packer posted a story earlier this week about the excellent condition of the sweet potato crop in the Southeast this year. They report that growing conditions in eastern North Carolina were especially favorable, with a wet weather early in the growing season followed by a long period of dry, warm days. North Carolina is the primary producer of sweet potatoes in the United States, growing 60 percent of all US production.
