The Packer wrote in an article this week that the prices of sweet potatoes rose after Hurricane Florence brought flooding rain to many sweet potato fields earlier this week. Some farmers were able to harvest a portion of their crops but many others were left in the ground. According to the article it is too early to estimate the losses because farmers will have to wait to get into the fields and wait for things to dry down before they can see the damage.
