The Georgia Farm Bureau posted a video story this week on the start of the cotton harvest in south Georgia.  It featured Appling County extension agent Shane Curry and discussed the negative impacts of the hot and dry conditions on dryland cotton this year.  Poor yields are exacerbated by low cotton prices, which make it difficult to make good profits.  In that county alone over 30,000 acres are planted in cotton.  You can see the video at Growing Georgia here.
