We’re about halfway through the month so it’s time to get a preliminary look at the climate so far. The maps from the High Plains Regional Climate Center show that temperatures have been running below normal for most of the Southeast except for Florida, with the coolest temperatures in North Carolina. Rainfall has been plentiful in most of Georgia and Alabama, but drier than normal conditions are seen in the Florida peninsula and in North Carolina. You can see these maps for other parts of the country at https://www.hprcc.unl.edu/maps.php?map=ACISClimateMaps. Temperatures are expected to be above normal for the rest of the month, which should bring the monthly average temperature closer to average. Rainfall is likely to be below normal this week but could pick up next week.
