Matt Daniel of WMAZ in Macon GA listed several interesting weather records that were set this week.  You may not have heard any of them.

1) Seattle had its warmest April day ever recorded after hitting 89°F yesterday. (April 18, 2016) It shattered the record high of 70°F back in 2010.

2) Houston, TX (IAH) recorded a one day rainfall total of 9.92″ a few days ago when catastrophic flooding occurred around the city. It ended up being the 2nd wettest day ever recorded for the Houston Intercontinental Airport.

3) Charlotte, NC recorded the biggest 1 day temperature spread since record keeping began 138 years ago. They recorded a low of 38°F and a high of 86°F…..a temperature spread of 48°F!

4) A Category 5 hurricane called Tropical Cyclone Fantala (They call them Tropical Cyclones in the Indian Ocean ) developed near Madagascar a few days ago. It ended up becoming the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the entire Indian Ocean. It had sustained winds of 175 mph.
