The National Hurricane Center has started putting out advisories on Tropical Depression 2, located in the tropical Atlantic. There is enough convective activity associated with the circulation to identify it as a closed circulation, which gives it depression status. In the short term, TD2 may strengthen slightly and could even gain named status in the next day or so, becoming TS Bertha. However, the circulation is expected to move into an area of strong wind shear, which generally weakens the storm circulation and prevents it from strengthening further. At this time there is no reason to think that it will become anything more than an area of enhanced rain which will stay out to sea.
