Southern corn rust was confirmed yesterday (July 7) in Coffee County. This is about one month later than it normally shows up in Georgia. This is the first find in Georgia.
There has not been any southern corn rust found in the sentinel plot in Bulloch County at Wade Hodges Farm, but samples will continue to be taken weekly. Corn needs to be protected from southern corn rust until it reaches R6 growth stage. I will keep you updated with anymore finds.
