Southern corn rust was confirmed this week in Appling County. Corn should be protected from southern corn rust from very early tassel through the dough stage (R6) of development. Be sure you are scouting your cotton for plant bugs. I came across a few fields that were at threshold and were treated. I cannot remember the last time we had to spray for plant bugs in Bulloch County, but I do know if has been a while. They are sporadic and there is no need to panic – just be sure you are looking at your cotton for this pest. Click HERE to refer to information about plant bugs that was sent out on June 23.
