Southern corn rust has been identified in Jackson County, Florida. As of today there has not been any southern corn rust identified in Georgia. I will keep you informed when locations in Georgia have confirmed identifications.
Corn is susceptible to yield loss from southern corn rust until it reaches R6. The current weather is conducive for the movement of the disease. Samples will continue to be taken from Bulloch County and other locations throughout the state.
