The overall purpose of this project is to integrate the University of Georgia (UGA) Cooperative
Extension county agents in the promotion and implementation of multiple yet similar
management practices found in the Altamaha, Coastal Georgia and Suwannee-Satilla Regional
Water Plans (Plan sections 6-1). Project teams made of UGA faculty, UGA Extension county
agents, and other partners will implement management practices unique to the various regional
water council areas including nutrient (surface and subsurface) monitoring; installing water
efficiency technologies (soil moisture sensors) on conventional and conservation tillage cotton
fields as well as blueberry fields; promoting aquifer protection and water conservation practices
associated with water wells; participating in outreach events and workshops; developing publications showing connected activities and goals of UGA Faculty and Extension county agents with the management practices; and reporting results to other UGA agents in the area and
the individual councils.
