Sorry I didn’t get a post up last week. It was a whirlwind.
Cotton: Target spot and some boll rot are showing up. Areolate mildew is also said to be lurking around but I haven’t found any yet. Target Spot can defoliate the plant which in certain situations will decrease yield.

Peanuts: Hits of white mold are showing up about everywhere I go. Nothing major, just small spots here and there. Don’t be fooled by false white mold, it has orange-like fingers.

Sorghum: Sugarcane aphids are starting. In general, treat when infestations reach 50 aphids/leaf OR when pre-boot stage 25% of plants are infested and large numbers are present. Good spray coverage is critical, minimum of 10 GPA by ground, or 5 GPA by air. Chlorpyrifos and dimethoate products may not provide more than 7 days of control. Malathion may give partial control of sugarcane aphid on the head at the end of the season. Sivanto Prime and Transform work well on sugarcane aphids.
