More and more peanuts are being dug, probably because most people waited out Sallly. The 1″-2″ of rain we were projected last week turned into 4″-5″ which was more than we wanted. It has started to dry out enough to continue digging peanuts. I think this cool spell will slow them down some, this week I’ve seen more projecting into the 140s. While we rely on the maturity board for decision making don’t forget that there are several options to consider also. Peg strength, disease pressure, and weather to name a few. Cotton is being defoliated in spots and several fields are getting ready. I checked in on some of the gins around and they are starting to get some in on the yards. I have noticed several fields with late nematode pressure, some fields were treated with a nematicide and some were not. We will be looking into some options for that this Spring. CFAP 2 should be coming out soon, I know Ray and his staff will be in touch.
