Not much this week, it has been kind of rainy. I poured 4″ out of my gauge at the house after Sally went through. Cooler weather is moving in which will probably slow down the maturity movement. All this rain we got will continue to create conditions favorable for the development and spread of rust diseases, boll rots, areolate mildew, and leaf spot diseases. It will also delay re-entry into fields for timely fungicide applications. Though white mold on peanut is favored by moisture, I am hopeful the cooler temperatures projected over the next 2 weeks will slow its growth and spread. Sally didn’t seem to do to much damage to pecan trees. Some limbs and nuts were knocked down but most very minor. The biggest concern is the delay of getting back into the orchards. Some Pawnees are opened enough to begin shaking. Most varieties are a few weeks away from shaking.
