LPOST Spray (30-45 DAP)
Most of you have already or are getting ready for your LPOST peanut spray. Here are a few recommendations that Dr. Prostko has tested for years with proven results. Also, I was in Thomas County for a peanut training a few days ago and saw a peanut field where the applicator grabbed a glyphosate jug instead of a 2,4-DB jug. It was not a pretty sight and it looked to be about 20 acres. If (big if) the peanuts survive, he is looking at least a 50% yield loss. So be extremely careful when you are mixing your tanks.
- Cadre + 2,4-DB + Dual/Warrant/Zidua (assuming ALS-resistance is not present and crop rotations are acceptable)
- Cobra or Ultra Blazer + 2,4-DB + Dual/Warrant/Zidua (assuming ALS resistance is present).
- Some peanut growers have tank-mixed Cadre + Cobra/Ultra Blazer + 2,4-DB + Dual/Warrant/Zidua and have not had any major problems but, UGA does not have a ton of data yet to support this 4-way mixture.
- Just a reminder, if you use Cadre be sure to consider rotational crop restrictions.
- Wheat, Rye – 4 months
- Corn, Snap Beans, Southern Peas, Soybeans, Tobacco – 9 months
- Cotton, Oats, Sweet Corn, Grain Sorghum – 18 months
- Canola – 40 months
- See label for additional restrictions.
If you need to control grasses be careful of which chemistry you use.
- Poast: Does not need to be mixed with other herbicides, it will greatly reduce grass control.
- Select: Can be mixed with a broadleaf herbicide but remember to check the handbook for increased rates. Do not mix with chlorothalonil, it will reduce grass control.
