Planters were wide open this week. I know several acres of cotton and peanuts were put in. According to the UGA drought monitor were in a moderate drought. Hopefully we the forecast will bring us a little water especially for our dryland folks. I spent some time looking at cantaloupes, watermelons, peppers, and peach trees this week. Overall, everything looked good. Melons and peppers have finally started growing out of the wind damage from the previous week. I’m sure the warmer weather this week allowed them to really take off. Peach trees were starting to get some brown rot. I attended a baleage training this week and learned some good tips on making baleage. With those pop up showers throughout the spring and summer, baleage is a quicker way to get hay out of the field. Let me know if you would like to try any baleage this year or would like to know more about it. Hold your heads high, focus on the positive and stay cool.
