Below is a new requirement for anyone that applies paraquat (Firestorm, Gramoxone, Helmquat, Parazone, etc.) from this point forward. These training requirements only apply to newly labeled (2019) products. They do not apply to paraquat products with labels prior to 2019, however, I think it would be awesome for Georgia growers and pesticide applicators to take the lead and be proactive with these certifications just like we have with Dicamba. While Paraquat is a great product, it can also be dangerous if used improperly. This is an excellent course about stewarding pesticides and continues to support UGA’s overall mission.
Here are some tips:
- If you are a first time user, you will have to create an account with eXtension by clicking on the link in the information below. It took about 10 minutes to get it set up for me to be able to get to the module.
- The course takes about 30 minutes.
- If you do not make 100, you have to keep taking the test until you get 100.
- Make sure to print the certificate and save a copy on your computer in case you lose your printed copy.
- If the internet is an issue call me and we can set up a time for you to come by the office and take the course.
- Paraquat is an IMPORTANT part of nearly every single sound management program UGA weed science recommends in agronomic crops.
- Critical points to remember:
- Paraquat can only be applied by a certified pesticide applicator.
- An EPA-approved paraquat training is required every 3 years. (this might show up on the test)
