News came from Washington DC this week that the EPA declined to ban the use of the insecticide chlorpyrifos. While the potential negative impacts on human health are definitely concerning and should not be ignored, safe use of this chemical with proper timing and appropriate personal protective equipment allows for a very effective insecticide for peach pest management. While the decision to not ban chlorpyrifos may be controversial, for growers who need to continue to manage scale insects and borers, this is good news.
