Our friends at Georgia Organics are excited to release information about October’s Farm-to-School month celebration!  This year’s theme, Spinach to Win It, celebrates a superfood rich in iron, vitamin C and E, potassium, and magnesium.  UGA Extension and Georgia 4-H are proud to be highlighted as partners in this annual event.

The electronic toolkit with spinach-themed lesson plans, activities, recipes, etc. can be found here: http://bit.ly/spinachtowinit.  After registering, you’ll get an autogenerated e-mail with a link and password to the resources.  The first 300 individuals to sign up can choose to be mailed seeds, washable tattoos, and a school garden planting & harvest calendar!  Each week during October, anyone who uses the #spinachtowinit hashtag will be entered to win a prize.

Psst – – – looking for more fun farm-to-school resources?  All of the materials from previous years can be shared. Please reach out to Laura Goss at laurwalt@uga.edu for curriculum resources in the following categories: Agriculture, Science, and STEAM/Farm to School.  Lessons are categorized by age group (early care, elementary, middle, and high) and then by topic (carrots, kale, legumes, lettuce, okra, radish, squash, turnip).

Best wishes as you Spinach to Win It this fall!

Take Care,

Kasey, Courtney, Becky, and Mandy
